Lectotype: BMNH 1849.11.8.79-82 (1 of 4). Paralectotypes: (5) BMNH 1849.11.8.79-82 (3 of 4), 1853.3.19.46 (1). Lectotype selected by Ploeg 1991:78 [ref. 20196]. •Valid as Crenicichla strigata Günther 1862 -- (Ploeg 1991:74 [ref. 20196], Kullander 1997:285 [ref. 22746], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:631 [ref. 27061], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:97 [ref. 35633], Varella & Ito 2018:11 [ref. 35884]). •Valid as Lugubria strigata (Günther 1862) -- (Varella et al. 2023:4 [ref. 40273]). Current status: Valid as Lugubria strigata (Günther 1862). Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin, Brazil, Colombia and Guyana. Habitat: freshwater.
