Lectotype: BMNH 1935.6.14.1640. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1935.6.14.1641 (1), 1935.6.14.1642 (1). Lectotype selected by Eccles & Trewavas 1989:198 [ref. 13547]. •Valid as Naevochromis chrysogaster (Trewavas 1935) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:197 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:269 [ref. 20944], Konings 2016:269 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Naevochromis chrysogaster (Trewavas 1935). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
