Lectotype selected by Eccles & Trewavas 1989:158 [ref. 13547]. •Valid as Otopharynx heterodon (Trewavas 1935) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:157 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:348 [ref. 20944], Snoeks & Hanssens 2004:290 [ref. 28117], Cleaver et al. 2009:166 [ref. 30418], Konings 2016:232 [ref. 34521], Oliver 2018:195 [ref. 36257]). Current status: Valid as Otopharynx heterodon (Trewavas 1935). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
