Holotype (unique): BMNH 1906.9.7.19. •Valid as Taeniochromis holotaenia (Regan 1922) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:73 [ref. 13547], Teugels 1991:466 [ref. 20955], Snoeks & Hanssens 2004:307 [ref. 28117], Konings 2016:355 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Taeniochromis holotaenia (Regan 1922). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
