Lectotype selected by Eccles & Trewavas 1989:267 [ref. 13547]. •Valid as Caprichromis orthognathus (Trewavas 1935) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:265 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:36 [ref. 20944], Konings 2016:354 [ref. 34521], Dierickx & Snoeks 2020:10 [ref. 37605]). Current status: Valid as Caprichromis orthognathus (Trewavas 1935). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
