Holotype (unique): BMNH 1935.6.14.1475. Current status: Valid as Stigmatochromis pleurospilus (Trewavas 1935). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
