Lectotype: BMNH 1908.10.27.41. Paralectotypes: (6) BMNH 1897.6.9.255 (1), 1897.6.9.257 (1), 1908.10.27.42-48 (now 4). Lectotype selected by Eccles & Trewavas 1989:301 [ref. 13547]. •Valid as Copadichromis quadrimaculatus (Regan 1922) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:300 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:57 [ref. 20944], Stauffer & Sato 2002:91 [ref. 26070], Chisambo & Snoeks 2004:263 [ref. 28115], Chisambo & Snoeks 2004:264 [ref. 28115], Stauffer & Konings 2006:12 [ref. 28633], Konings 2016:158 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Copadichromis quadrimaculatus (Regan 1922). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
