Holotype a skin, not found; neotype designated by Eccles & Trewavas 1989:92 [ref. 13547]. •Valid as Dimidiochromis dimidiatus (Günther 1864) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:91 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:76 [ref. 20944], Snoeks & Hanssens 2004:277 [ref. 28117], Konings 2016:310 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Dimidiochromis dimidiatus (Günther 1864). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
