Syntypes: NMW 52020 (1), ?72022 (1). •Valid as Chaetodipterus lippei Steindachner 1895 -- (Desoutter 1986:340 [ref. 6212], Desoutter 1990:834 [ref. 18967], Poll & Gosse 1995:115 [ref. 24781], Wirtz et al. 2013:134 [ref. 32972], Heemstra in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2849 [ref. 34618], Reiner 2019:267 [ref. 38139], Fermon et al. 2022:299 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Chaetodipterus lippei Steindachner 1895. Ephippidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Senegal south to Angola, including São Tomé and Principe. Habitat: brackish, marine.
