aetatevarians, Scatophagus De Vis [C. W.] 1884:456 [Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales v. 9 (pt 3); ref. 4898] Queensland coast, Australia. Syntypes: OM I.96 (1), QM I.209 (dry mount). Original as aetate-varians. Specimen ZMUO J2350 is labeled a syntype but is not a type according to Pethon 1969:1, 6 [ref. 19268]. Later called semistrigatus by De Vis 1882. •Synonym of Scatophagus argus (Linnaeus 1766) -- (Parenti 2004:2 [ref. 27605], Allen et al. 2006:1722 [ref. 29090]). •Synonym of Selenotoca multifasciata (Richardson 1846) -- (Kottelat 2013:439 [ref. 32989] with question) Current status: Synonym of Selenotoca multifasciata (Richardson 1846). Scatophagidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
