Syntypes: BMNH 1906.9.8.179-181 (3) Mpala, 1906.9.8.182-184 (3) Tembwi. •Valid as Callochromis pleurospilus (Boulenger 1906) -- (Maréchal & Poll 1991:34 [ref. 20946], De Vos et al. 2001:130 [ref. 26059], Konings 2015:303 [ref. 34660], Konings 2019:320 [ref. 36983]). Current status: Valid as Callochromis pleurospilus (Boulenger 1906). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Tanganyika. Habitat: freshwater.
