Lectotype: MRAC 19132. Paralectotypes: MNHN 1925-0248 (1). Type catalog: Bertin 1948:8 [ref. 19577]. Lectotype designated by Decru, Vreven & Snoeks 2013:1365 [ref. 32574]. Originally species as odoë. •Synonym of Hepsetus odoe (Bloch 1794) -- (Roberts 1984:138 [ref. 6182]). •Valid as Hepsetus lineatus (Pellegrin 1926) -- (Decru et al. 2013:1352, 1365 [ref. 32574] as lineata, Decru et al. 2015:273 [ref. 34058], Decru et al. 2017:626 [ref. 35508], Skelton 2019:226 [ref. 36564], Fermon et al. 2022:150 [ref. 39448], Walsh et al. 2022:[4] [ref. 39281] as lineata, Decru 2024:370 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Hepsetus lineatus (Pellegrin 1926). Hepsetidae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Lower Guinea (Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of Congo), Sangha-Dja River (Congo River basin), and Angola. Habitat: freshwater.
