Type catalog: Fricke 1995:9 [ref. 28100] who dates to 1878, Weber 1998:13 [ref. 32707] with syntype as MHNG 611.19 (1), Fricke 2005:27 [ref. 29864] dated 1878. Lectotype selected by Krupp & Schneider 1989:398 [ref. 13651]. •See Neumann et al. 2011:18 [ref. 31163]. •Synonym of Sarotherodon galilaeus (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Krupp & Schneider 1989:398 [ref. 13651], Trewavas & Teugels 1991:428 [ref. 20954], Çiçek et al. 2024:335 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Synonym of Sarotherodon galilaeus (Linnaeus 1758). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
