guineensis, Chromis Günther [A.] (ex Bleeker) 1862:271, 510 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 4; ref. 1969] Ashantee, Guinea [now in Ghana]. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1849.10.9.15. Current status: Valid as Coptodon guineensis (Günther 1862). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: coastal drainages from Ghana south to Congo. Introduced elsewhere. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
