Holotype: ANSP 63934. Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:145 [ref. 13621]. •Valid as Chromis dasygenys (Fowler 1935) -- (Allen 1986:674 [ref. 5631], Allen 1991:239 [ref. 19344], Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:331 [ref. 28072], Parenti 2021:51 [ref. 38418], Allen 2022:133 [ref. 39911]). Current status: Valid as Chromis dasygenys (Fowler 1935). Pomacentridae: Chrominae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) north to Somalia. Habitat: marine.
