Current status: Valid as Abudefduf hoefleri (Steindachner 1881). Pomacentridae: Glyphisodontinae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Senegal south to central Angola, including Canary Islands (stray), Cape Verde Islands, São Tomé and Principe; invasive in Mediterranean Sea. Habitat: marine.
