Replacement name for Dascyllus fasciatus Macleay 1878, secondarily preoccupied in Pomacentrus by Pomacentrus fasciatus Cuvier 1830. •Synonym of Dischistodus fasciatus (Cuvier 1830) -- (Allen 1991:244 [ref. 19344]). •Valid as Dischistodus darwiniensis (Whitley 1928) -- (Allen 1993:25 [ref. 20780], Allen 1997:160 [ref. 23977], Larson & Williams 1997:363 [ref. 23967], Allen 1999:99 [ref. 23870], Allen & Adrim 2000:51 [ref. 25052], Hutchins 2001:266 [ref. 25841], Hutchins 2001:37 [ref. 25847], Allen et al. 2006:1456 [ref. 29090], Larson et al. 2013:171 [ref. 32988], Parenti 2021:65 [ref. 38418]).
