Holotype (unique): LACM 23184 [ex AHF 907]. •Synonym of Dactyloscopus fimbriatus (Reid 1935), but a valid subspecies -- (Dawson 1975:24 [ref. 7121]). •Valid as Dactyloscopus elongatus Myers & Wade 1946 -- (Patzner et al. 2009:471 [ref. 30396], Hastings & Springer 2009:9 [ref. 31156], Page et al. 2013:167 [ref. 32708], Love et al. 2021:194 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:157 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Dactyloscopus elongatus Myers & Wade 1946. Dactyloscopidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Oaxaca (Mexico), including Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
