opercularis, Heliastes Günther [A.] in Playfair & Günther 1867:84, Pl. 11 (fig. 2) [The fishes of Zanzibar; ref. 3490] Zanzibar, Tanzania, western Indian Ocean. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1867.3.9.316 (right half skin). Paratypes: BMNH 1865.3.18.34 (spirits). Original genus should have been Heliases. The half skin is of the size of one specimen mentioned in the original description (pers. comm. J. Current status: Valid as Chromis opercularis (Günther 1867). Pomacentridae: Chrominae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa (Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya), Mozambique Channel, Seychelles and Madagascar east to western Indonesia. Replaced in Réunion and Mauritius by Chromis torquata Allen 2018. Habitat: marine.
