Neotype: SIO 59-210. Type catalog: Springer & Orrell 1996:15 [ref. 22274]. Appeared first as above (19 Nov.); also in Günther 1861:563 [ref. 1960]. The three syntypic specimens deposited at USNM not found; neotype designated by Dawson 1975:34 [ref. 7121]. •Valid as Dactyloscopus pectoralis Gill 1861 -- (Dawson 1975:32 [ref. 7121], Allen & Robertson 1994:223 [ref. 22193], De La Cruz Agüero et al. 1997:120 [ref. 24545], Thomson et al. 2000:293 [ref. 25640], Nelson et al. 2004:162 [ref. 27807], Hastings & Springer 2009:7 [ref. 30391], Patzner et al. 2009:472 [ref. 30396], Hastings & Springer 2009:9 [ref. 31156], Page et al. 2013:167 [ref. 32708]). Current status: Valid as Dactyloscopus pectoralis Gill 1861. Dactyloscopidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Baja and Gulf of California. Habitat: marine.
