Paratypes: AMNH 29415 (2), 30198-99 (now 1, now 5); UMMZ 190495 [ex AMNH 30198] (1), 190763 [ex AMNH 30199] (3). •Valid as Bramocharax baileyi Rosen 1972 -- (Contreras-Balderas & Rivera-Teillery 1985:15 [ref. 19552], Bussing 1998:89 [ref. 24179], Menezes in Reis et al. 2003:114 [ref. 27061]). •Valid as Astyanax baileyi (Rosen 1972) -- (Schmitter-Soto 2016:126 [ref. 34424], Schmitter-Soto 2017:1367 [ref. 35414], Barrientos et al. 2023:271 [ref. 41235], Quintana 2024:5 [ref. 41186]). Current status: Valid as Astyanax baileyi (Rosen 1972). Acestrorhamphidae: Acestrorhamphinae. Distribution: Central America: Usumacinta River basin, Alta Verapaz (Guatemala) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
