Holotype: ZSM 22503a. Paratypes: ANSP 139721 (1); MHNG 2187.6 (3 of 4); ZSM 22503b (7 now 5), 22141a (6 now 4). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:55 [ref. 13621], Neumann 2011:245 [ref. 31652]. ANSP specimen might not be a type; only ZSM specimens were referred to in original description (holotype + 13 paratypes). •Valid as Diapoma terofali (Géry 1964) -- (Weitzman & Fink 1985:109 [ref. 5203], Weitzman in Reis et al. 2003:224 [ref. 27061], López et al. 2003:21 [ref. 27366], Casciotta et al. 2003:83 [ref. 28130], Menni 2004:76 [ref. 28131], Mirande 2010:541 [ref. 31006], Litz & Koerber 2014:13 [ref. 33622], Menezes & Weitzman 2011:62 [ref. 31289], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893], Mirande & Koerber 2015:22 [ref. 35117], Bertaco et al. 2016:413 [ref. 34561], Petry et al. 2016:301 [ref. 34966], Nión et al. 2016:29 [ref. 35565]). Current status: Valid as Diapoma terofali (Géry 1964). Characidae: Stevardiinae. Distribution: Lower Paraná and Uruguay River basins: Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Habitat: freshwater.
