Dates to plate which appeared on 3 Apr. 1830: description dated to 13 Oct. 1831 (Cretella 2010 [ref. 34236]). •Synonym of Hemigymnus melapterus (Bloch 1791) -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:25 [ref. 24943], Randall 2013:6 [ref. 32519]). Current status: Synonym of Hemigymnus melapterus (Bloch 1791). Labridae. Habitat: marine.
