Holotype and paratypes: BMNH 1935.5.11.184-193 (17). •Valid as Lipophrys velifer (Norman 1935) -- (Wirtz & Bath 1989:26 [ref. 9298], Bath 1990:908 [ref. 19373], Bath & Wirtz 1992:272 [ref. 19831], Bath 1996:91 [ref. 22687], Afonso et al. 1999:78 [ref. 25466], Wirtz et al. 2007:38 [ref. 30263], Reiner 2019:252 [ref. 38139]). •Valid as Microlipophrys velifer (Norman 1935) -- (Patzner et al. 2009:457 [ref. 30396], Levy et al. 2011:410 [ref. 31177], Williams & Springer in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2805 [ref. 34618], Carballo et al. 2021:54 [ref. 39250], Fermon et al. 2022:274 [ref. 39448] possible). Current status: Valid as Microlipophrys velifer (Norman 1935). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania south to Angola, including Canary Islands (Spain), Cape Verde Islands, and São Tomé and Principe. Habitat: marine.
