Syntypes: (4) ?BMNH 1862.2.28.102 (1), ?NMV 46180 (1). •Valid as Hemicoris podostigma (Bleeker 1854) -- (Kuiter 2010:306 [ref. 35285]). •Valid as Halichoeres podostigma (Bleeker 1854) -- (Allen 1997:190 [ref. 23977], Parenti & Randall 2000:23 [ref. 24943], Allen 2000:113 [ref. 25868], Westneat 2001:3401 [ref. 26277], Allen & Adrim 2003:49 [ref. 26830], Barber & Bellwood 2005:250 [ref. 35318], Allen & Erdmann 2012:681 [ref. 31980], Farhana-Azmi et al. 2022:8 [ref. 40448]). Current status: Valid as Halichoeres podostigma (Bleeker 1854). Labridae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Indonesia, Sabah (Malaysia) and Philippines. Habitat: marine.
