Bleeker specimens: BMNH 1862.2.28.74 (1), RMNH 6613 (2). Type information: Bauchot 1963:65-66 [ref. 19171]. Originally as pyrrhogrammatoïdes. "Lectotype" designated in Bauchot 1963:66 [ref. 19171] but description was based on one specimen; the MNHN specimen is of length mentioned by Bleeker and is the presumed holotype (but see Randall 1996:7 [ref. 22260]). Julis (Halichoeres) cyanopleura Bleeker 1853 and Julis (Halichoeres) pyrrhogrammatoides Bleeker 1853 were described in the same work, and Randall & Ferraris 1981 [ref. 5492] serve as first revisers selecting cyanopleura over pyrrhogrammatoides. •Synonym of Leptojulis cyanopleura (Bleeker 1853) -- (Randall 1996:6 [ref. 22260], Parenti & Randall 2000:29 [ref. 24943]).
