Species originally described as above, later described as Scarus (Scarus) perspicilliatus in more detail, but as Scarus perspicillatus on text-figure page, in Steindachner 1879:16, Pl. 4 (fig. 1) [ref. 4228]. •Valid as Chlorurus perspicillatus (Steindachner 1879) -- (Bellwood 1994:66 [ref. 19116], Parenti & Randall 2000:53 [ref. 24943], Mundy 2005:452 [ref. 28379], Randall 2007:361 [ref. 30952]). Current status: Valid as Chlorurus perspicillatus (Steindachner 1879). Labridae. Distribution: Central Pacific: Johnston Atoll and Hawaiian Islands. Habitat: marine.
