Type catalog: Ferraris & Vari 1992:35 [ref. 19771], Provenzano et al. 1998:14 [ref. 24196], Ferraris 2007:193 [ref. 29155]. •Synonym of Pimelodella chagresi (Steindachner 1877), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Burgess 1989:280 [ref. 12860], Galvis et al. 1997:64 [ref. 23651]). •Valid as Pimelodella odynea Schultz 1944 -- (Bockmann & Guazzelli in Reis et al. 2003:420 [ref. 27061], Castaño et al. 2005:18 [ref. 28507], Ferraris 2007:193 [ref. 29155], Ardila Rodríguez 2017:8 [ref. 35221], Slobodian et al. 2017:97 [ref. 35643], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:92 [ref. 35633], Conde-Saldaña et al. 2019:572 [ref. 36962]). Current status: Valid as Pimelodella odynea Schultz 1944. Heptapteridae: Rhamdiinae. Distribution: Lake Maracaibo basin and adjacent rivers, Venezuela and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
