H.] 1927:66 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 9) v. 20 (no. 115) (art. 8); ref. 193] "Kaffrarian" coast, False Bay, Table Bay, South Africa, southeastern Atlantic. Syntypes: BMNH 1927.12.6.40 [ex SAM] (1), SAM 12756 (2, 1 in poor condition). Also appeared as new in Barnard 1927:431 [ref. 194]. •Valid as Gymnammodytes capensis (Barnard 1927) -- (Heemstra 1986:770 [ref. 5660], Ida et al. 1994:258 [ref. 22075], Bianchi & Carpenter in Bianchi et al. 1993:167 [ref. 25472], Nizinski in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2785 [ref. 34618], Ida & Randall 2022:435 [ref. 39964]). Current status: Valid as Gymnammodytes capensis (Barnard 1927). Ammodytidae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Angola south to Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), then north to southern Mozambique. Habitat: marine.
