Holotype (unique): BMNH 1855.9.19.311. May use Callionymus or Repomucenus; authors differ. •Valid as Repomucenus belcheri (Richardson 1844) -- (Hoese & Bray 2006:1589 [ref. 29000], Larson et al. 2013:184 [ref. 32988]). •Valid as Callionymus belcheri Richardson 1844 -- (Fricke 1982:67 [ref. 5432], Fricke 1983:307, 316 [ref. 8349] with subspecies, Fricke 1999:490 [ref. 24106], Johnson 1999:747 [ref. 25471], Fricke 2001:3556 [ref. 26292], Hutchins 2001:42 [ref. 25847], Fricke 2002:13 [ref. 26547] with subspecies, Fricke 2016:62 [ref. 34390], Fricke 2016:51 [ref. 34468], Fricke 2016:21 [ref. 34659], Fricke 2017:182 [ref. 35548]). Current status: Valid as Callionymus belcheri Richardson 1844. Callionymidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: northwestern Australia east to Queensland (Australia) and Papua New Guinea. Habitat: marine.
