schomburgkii, Mylesinus Valenciennes [A.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1850:235, Pl. 644 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 22; ref. 1014] Essequibo River, Guyana. Holotype (unique): MNHN A-9855 (head). Type catalog: Bertin 1948:27-28 [ref. 19577]. Based on a drawing but "underlying" specimen is holotype. •Valid as Mylesinus schomburgkii Valenciennes 1850 -- (Géry 1972:188 [ref. 1594], Jégu in Reis et al. 2003:185 [ref. 27061], Andrade et al. 2013:304 [ref. 32757], Andrade et al. 2016:490 [ref. 34140], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:[2] [ref. 35679], Ota et al. 2024:410 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Mylesinus schomburgkii Valenciennes 1850. Serrasalmidae: Myleinae. Distribution: South America: Essequibo and Orinoco River basins: Guyana and Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
