Paratypes: CAS-SU 8567 (2). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:103 [ref. 12291], Fricke 1982:78 [ref. 5432]. May use Synchiropus or Neosynchiropus; authors differ. •Valid as Neosynchiropus rubrovinctus (Gilbert 1905) -- (Nakabo & Aizawa 1991 [ref. 20442]). •Valid as Synchiropus rubrovinctus (Gilbert 1905) -- (Fricke 1981:139 [ref. 1499], Fricke 1982:78 [ref. 5432], Fricke 1983:660 [ref. 8349], Randall 1999:204 [ref. 24082], Fricke 2002:65 [ref. 26547], Mundy 2005:469 [ref. 28379], Fricke & Kulbicki 2006:348 [ref. 28867], Fricke 2006:11 [ref. 28872], Fricke 2006:12 [ref. 28872], Randall 2007:389 [ref. 30952]). Current status: Valid as Synchiropus rubrovinctus (Gilbert 1905). Callionymidae. Distribution: Western and central North Pacific: southern Japan, Hawaiian Islands. Habitat: marine.
