Syntypes: BMNH 1867.5.13.19 (1), 1868.8.16.11 (1). •Synonym of Ctenopoma nigropannosum Reichenow 1876 -- (Gosse 1986:411 [ref. 6194]). •Valid as Ctenoppoma gabonense Günther 1896 -- (Norris 2007:253 [ref. 30044], Munene et al. 2021:25 [ref. 39283], Stiassny et al. 2021:1687 [ref. 39000], Fermon et al. 2022:226 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Ctenopoma gabonense Günther 1896. Anabantidae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Congo River system (Gabon and Democratic Republic of Congo). Habitat: freshwater.
