Also described as new in Günther 1880:65 [ref. 2011]. •Synonym of Scorpaena neglecta Temminck & Schlegel 1843, but a valid subspecies -- (Lindberg & Krasyukova 1987:86 [ref. 15964]). •Valid as Scorpaena miostoma Günther 1877 -- (Shimizu in Masuda et al. 1984:314 [ref. 6441], Kim & Lee 1993:469 [ref. 39487], Motomura & Iwatsuki 1997:129 [ref. 23963], Shimizu & Hatooka 1997:3 [ref. 24377], Nakabo 2000:580 [ref. 25086], Nakabo 2002:580 [ref. 26001], Choi et al. 2003:242, 565 [ref. 26218], Motomura et al. 2005:866 [ref. 28254], Fricke et al. 2018:[14] [ref. 36159], Wibowo et al. 2019:308 [ref. 37166], Kim et al. 2020:93 [ref. 39118], Sonoyama et al. 2020:44 [ref. 37637], Wibowo & Motomura 2021:[13] [ref. 38565], Murase et al. 2023:39 [ref. 40935]).
