Also described as new in Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1889:412 [4] [ref. 1254]. Lectotype selected by Vari 1989:36 [ref. 13548]. •Valid as Psectrogaster rhomboides Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1889 -- (Vari 1989:35 [ref. 13548], Vari in Reis et al. 2003:58 [ref. 27061], Ramos et al. 2014:3 [ref. 35321], Melo et al. 2016:375 [ref. 35317], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:42 [ref. 35633], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:15 [ref. 39298], Koerber et al. 2022:25 [ref. 39235], Vieira et al. 2023:17 [ref. 40759], Limeira-Filho et al. 2024:5 [ref. 41573]). Current status: Valid as Psectrogaster rhomboides Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1889. Curimatidae. Distribution: South America: ParnaĆ­ba and Juguaribe River basins (Brazil, Colombia and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
