africana, Trigla (Trigloporus) Smith [J. L. B.] 1934:334, Pl. 23 [Transactions of the Royal Society of South Africa v. 22 (pt 4); ref. 4065] Port Alfred, South Africa. Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] [ex AMG] 120. Paratypes: not researched. •Synonym of Trigloporus lastoviza (Bonnaterre 1788) -- (Richards & Saksena 1980:156 [ref. 23143]). •Synonym of Trigloporus lastoviza (Bonnaterre 1788), but a valid subspecies africanus (Smith 1934) -- (Heemstra 1982:293 [ref. 5416], Heemstra 1986:488 [ref. 5660], Richards 2022:605 [ref. 39730]). •Valid as Chelidonichthys africanus (Smith 1934). Current status: Valid as Chelidonichthys africanus (Smith 1934). Triglidae: Triglinae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) north to southern Mozambique. Habitat: marine.
