parilis, Insidiator McCulloch [A. R.] 1914:151, Fig. 14, Pl. 31 (fig. 2) [Biological Results Endeavour v. 2 (pt 3); ref. 2940] Darwin, and Mapoon, Gulf of Carpenteria, Northern Territory, Australia. Syntypes: (3) AMS I.5279 (1), I.6122 (1). •Synonym of Suggrundus staigeri (Castelnau 1875) -- (Paxton et al. 1989:471 [ref. 12442] but possibly valid, Larson & Williams 1997:354 [ref. 23967]). •Synonym of Cymbacephalus staigeri (Castelnau 1857) -- (Knapp 1999:2397 [ref. 24807]). •Valid as Cymbacephalus parilis (McCulloch 1914) -- (Imamura 2020:[4] [ref. 37798], Imamura & Hoese 2023:[5] [ref. 40531]). Current status: Valid as Cymbacephalus parilis McCulloch 1914. Platycephalidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, southwestern Pacific: Shark Bay (Western Australia) around northern Australia to Brisbane (Queensland); Gulf (Papua New Guinea). Habitat: marine.
