cirronasus, Platycephalus Richardson [J.] 1848:114, Pl. 51 (figs. 7-10) [Ichthyology of the voyage of H. M. S. Erebus & Terror v. 2 (2); ref. 3740] Botany Bay, New South Wales, Australia. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1950.7.28.1. The name cirronasus is a noun in apposition and therefore does not change its ending when in a feminine genus. •Valid as Thysanophrys cirronasa (Richardson 1848) -- (Imamura 1996:212 [ref. 22700], Imamura & Knapp 1999:179 [ref. 23886], Paxton et al. 2006:947 [ref. 29079], Gomon 2008:521 [ref. 30616], Hoschke et al. 2019:155 [ref. 36626], Imamura et al. 2019:21 [ref. 36722]). •Valid as Thysanophrys cirronasus (Richardson 1848) -- (Paxton et al. 1989:472 [ref. 12442], Kuiter 1993:101 [ref. 23929], Gomon et al. 1994:523 [ref. 22532], Kuiter 1997:98 [ref. 25488], Johnson 1999:729 [ref. 25471], Hutchins 2001:29 [ref. 25847]). Current status: Valid as Thysanophrys cirronasus (Richardson 1848). Platycephalidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean, southwestern Pacific: New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia (Australia). Habitat: brackish, marine.
