Type catalog: Blanc & Hureau 1968:45 [ref. 20738] with MNHN 4529 as holotype from Celebes, but Imamura & Amaoka 1996:97 [ref. 22119] suggest that RMNH 5992 contains the holotype. Originally as polijodon, with ij the Dutch equivalent to y; therefore changed to polyodon. •Synonym of Rogadius serratus (Cuvier 1829) -- (Imamura & Amaoka 1996:97 [ref. 22119], Imamura 1996:217 [ref. 22700], Imamura et al. 2006:297 [ref. 28670]). Current status: Synonym of Rogadius serratus (Cuvier 1829). Platycephalidae. Habitat: marine.
