Lectotype selected by Daniels & Moyle 1984:951 [ref. 8977]. •Status uncertain -- (Lee et al. 1980:815 [ref. 22416]). •Synonym of Cottus klamathensis Gilbert 1898, but a valid subspecies macrops Rutter 1908 -- (Miller & Taylor 1984:957 [ref. 6809], Moyle 2002:356 [ref. 26449], Scharpf 2008:10 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:483 [ref. 31215]). Current status: Synonym of Cottus klamathensis Gilbert 1898. Cottidae. Distribution: Pit River system, California, U.S.A. [subspecies macrops]. Habitat: freshwater.
