Holotype (unique): USNM 24196. •Synonym of Cottus bairdii Girard 1850 -- (Bailey & Bond 1963:1 [ref. 3934]). •Valid as Cottus bendirei (Bean 1881) -- (Markle & Hill 2000:202 [ref. 24886], Nelson et al. 2004:119 [ref. 27807], McPhail 2007:476 [ref. 31199] with question, Scharpf 2008:8 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:479 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:122 [ref. 32708], Goto et al. 2014:[10] [ref. 33456]). Current status: Valid as Cottus bendirei (Bean 1881). Cottidae. Distribution: Northwestern U.S.A.: Oregon, Idaho, and questionably in s. Canada [on ref. 31199]; usually as Oregon only. Habitat: freshwater.
