latus, Psychrolutes Hutton [F. W.] 1875:316 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 4) v. 16 (no. 95) (art. 41); ref. 18317] Dunedin Harbor, New Zealand. Lectotype: BMNH 1886.11.18.55. Type catalog: Russell 1996:226 [ref. 22562] with a holotype, but second locality (Bluff Harbour) indicates that additional specimens may have contributed to Hutton's understanding of the species. Lectotype designated by Eschmeyer 1998:881 [ref. 23416]. Also in Hutton 1876:214 [ref. 14210]. Lectotype selected by Eschmeyer 1998:881 [ref. 23416]. •Valid as Neophrynichthys latus (Hutton 1875) -- (Nelson 1977:505 [ref. 7034], Paulin et al. 1989:172 [ref. 24556], Yabe in Amaoka et al. 1990:247 [ref. 16024], Jackson & Nelson 2000:719 [ref. 25146], Stewart 2015:1129 [ref. 34254]). Current status: Valid as Neophrynichthys latus (Hutton 1875). Psychrolutidae: Psychrolutinae. Distribution: New Zealand region. Habitat: marine.
