Holotype: USNM 73332. Paratypes: CAS-SU 22236 (4). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:135 [ref. 12291]. •Synonym of Careproctus rastrinus Gilbert & Burke 1912 -- (Kido 1988:217 [ref. 12287], Sheiko & Fedorov 2000:32 [ref. 25650], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:611 [ref. 25968]). •Valid as Careproctus acanthodes Gilbert & Burke 1912 -- (Kido in Masuda et al. 1984:339 [ref. 6441], Lindberg & Krasyukova 1987:441 [ref. 15964], Pitruk 1990:36 [ref. 20303], Sokolovskaya et al. 1998:11 [ref. 24670], Chernova et al. 2004:4 [ref. 27592], see Kai et al. 2011:144, 152 [ref. 31271], Shinohara et al. 2011:47 [ref. 31715], Shinohara et al. 2014:256 [ref. 33330], Parin et al. 2014:315 [ref. 33547], Orr et al. 2015:320 [ref. 33959]). Current status: Valid as Careproctus acanthodes Gilbert & Burke 1912. Liparidae. Distribution: Western North Pacific: Japan Sea (Tatar Striat) and to Okhotsk Sea. Habitat: marine.
