Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:50 [ref. 13621]. •Valid as Tyttocharax madeirae Fowler 1913 -- (Weitzman & Fink 1985:109 [ref. 5203], Weitzman & Ortega 1995:134 [ref. 21874], Chang & Ortega 1995:3 [ref. 24302], Weitzman & Burns 1997:136 [ref. 24512], Weitzman in Reis et al. 2003:228 [ref. 27061], Román-Valencia et al. 2012:519 [ref. 32203], Barriga S. 2014:109 [ref. 35745] as Tythocharax, Sarmiento et al. 2014:185 [ref. 35004], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:54 [ref. 35633]). Current status: Valid as Tyttocharax madeirae Fowler 1913. Characidae: Stevardiinae. Distribution: Amazon River basin: Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Bolivia. Habitat: freshwater.
