Holotype (unique): RMNH 28671. •Valid as Cryptocentrus polyophthalmus (Bleeker 1853) -- (Allen & Adrim 2003:57 [ref. 26830]). •Synonym of Tomiyamichthys russus (Cantor 1849) -- (Allen & Erdmann 2012:885 [ref. 31980], Hoese et al. 2016:583 [ref. 34210], Parenti 2021:230 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Synonym of Tomiyamichthys russus (Cantor 1849). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Habitat: marine.
