Syntypes: (65) BSMP (presumed destroyed). •Synonym of Acentrogobius signatus (Peters 1855) -- (Allen 2015:7 [ref. 33699], Allen 2017:110 [ref. 35601]). •Valid as Acentrogobius multifasciatus (Herre 1927) -- (Akihito in Masuda et al. 1984:249 [ref. 6441], Kawanabe & Mizuno 1989:567 [ref. 25598], Nakabo 2000:1246 [ref. 25182], Sakai et al. 2001:108 [ref. 25693], Nakabo 2002:1246 [ref. 26193], Shibukawa 2009:259 [ref. 30449], Kottelat 2013:397 [ref. 32989], Suzuki et al. 2017:81 [ref. 35202], Furuhashi et al. 2020:25 [ref. 38446], Parenti 2021:80 [ref. 38603], Momose 2022:8 [ref. 39316]). Current status: Valid as Acentrogobius multifasciatus (Herre 1927). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Andaman Sea east to Indonesia, north to Ryukyu Islands (Japan) and Amami Islands (Japan). Habitat: brackish, marine.
