Current status: Valid as Cirrhitops hubbardi (Schultz 1943). Cirrhitidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Ryukyu Islands (Japan) and Mariana Islands east to Howland and Baker islands, Line Islands and Phoenix Islands, Tuamotu Islands (French Polynesia) and Ducie Island (Pitcairn Group), north to Ogasawara Islands (Japan) and Izu Islands (Japan), south to Cook Islands. IUCN (2017): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
