Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:23 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Creagrutus maxillaris (Myers 1927) -- (Vari & Harold 1998:256 [ref. 23845], Vari & Harold 2001:142 [ref. 25842], Vari & Harold in Reis et al. 2003:124 [ref. 27061], Dagosta & Pastana 2014:578 [ref. 33181], Mirande et al. 2013:763 [ref. 33366], Sarmiento et al. 2014:184 [ref. 35004], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:58 [ref. 35633], Albornoz-Garzón et al. 2018:352 [ref. 36150]). Current status: Valid as Creagrutus maxillaris (Myers 1927). Characidae: Stevardiinae. Distribution: Orinoco River basin and rivers draining the Guiana Shield, upper Negro River in Venezuela, and other localities: Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia and Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
