Paralectotypes: BMNH 1899.9.26.98-99 (2); MRAC 807-810 (4), 811-815 (5), 1281 (1). Lectotype selected in Poll 1967:106 [ref. 3529]. •Valid as Phenacogrammus altus (Boulenger 1899) -- (Géry 1996:8 [ref. 22207]). •Valid as Brachypetersius altus (Boulenger 1899) -- (Paugy 1984:164 [ref. 6183], Nzeyimana & Amiet 1992:31 [ref. 19559], Mamonekene & Stiassny 2012:478 [ref. 32195], Munene et al. 2021:22 [ref. 39283], Stiassny et al. 2021:1687 [ref. 39000]). Current status: Valid as Brachypetersius altus (Boulenger 1899). Alestidae. Distribution: Central Africa: upper Congo River system (Democratic Republic of Congo). Habitat: freshwater.
