Based on multiple sources, including Artedi 1738:117 [ref. 30349], and the 'Cyclogaster' of Gronow 1756:9 [ref. 20783] and Gronow 1760:265 [ref. 13466]. •Valid as Liparis liparis (Linnaeus 1766) -- (Berg 1949:1177 [ref. 20662], Lindberg 1973:609 [ref. 7220], Stein & Able in Whitehead et al. 1986:1278 [ref. 13677], Able 1990:481 [ref. 20106], Chernova 1991:15 [ref. 23263], Chernova et al. 2004:25 [ref. 27592], Fricke 2007:29 [ref. 30577], Chernova 2008:840 [ref. 30236], Parin et al. 2014:336 [ref. 33547]). Current status: Valid as Liparis liparis (Linnaeus 1766). Liparidae. Distribution: Arctic Ocean, Baltic Sea, North Sea, eastern North Atlantic: Iceland and Norway south to Portugal. Habitat: marine.
